I became familiar with this company by watching them build a deck around my neighbor’s above ground pool in 2021. Working from home, I watched them daily out of my window. They were timely arriving and were in and out within a week with a completed project that was beautiful. I knew at that point, I wanted them to tear down my old deck and re-build it. Josh and Robert did an amazing job! I am so pleased with the service they performed and highly recommend them for the outstanding job they completed.
They assisted me in my choices when I was undecided and I totally appreciate their guidance. My “new” deck is amazingly beautiful. My neighbors, family and friends have complimented the great job completed by 1918 Preservation. We look forward to many occasions being celebrated on the deck as well as relaxing sessions for many years to come. It definitely increases the value of my home! Take a bow fellows, you totally deserve it!!!
Our house is nearly 100 years old. We’ve owned it for 6 years and the porch was…fine when we bought it. As time went on, the column that supported our roof and our porch at the northwest corner of the house fell further and further into disrepair…and our wooden porch fell farther down our maintenance priority list. We coordinated with 1918 Preservation after creating a project on Thumbtack. Josh was honest about the difficulties of the project – they were not interested in taking on the masonry scope; they knew that material lead times were LONG; there were some unknowns (i.e. the state of the porch frame). He quoted us the labor and material the best that he could (it was a VERY attractive price. Other contractors didn’t come close) and we found a masonry contractor to help with the foundational work. The project finally got started in September, after conversations started in May (Josh was very communicative throughout the lengthy process and kept us updated on material status and his availability and was patient with us as we worked on finding the masonry contractor). Once they got started, the whole rebuild only took a couple days and the whole team was very friendly, professional, punctual, and talented. They communicated with us as they did the rebuild and did what they could to minimize our costs,, including reusing any material that they could.. Our porch looks amazing. This new, small, company owned by Josh is definitely worth working with. They added amazing value to our house. I will have them back in the future and will recommend them to family and friends.
Josh and his team completed my deck despite weather not being cooperative. They were professional, timely, had great communication with me, and made changes at the last minute when asked. A few neighbors already have commented on the great look and workmanship. Thanks for a great job, can’t wait for spring to utilize. I highly recommend.
We had a deck built around half of our above ground pool and it turned out fantastic. The guys from 1918 Preservation were professional, knowledgeable, quick,and relatable. The deck is well made and more affordable than we believed possible. We highly recommend!
Had tree branch fall on section of my fence. Guys were able to come out, estimate, make repairs all within a couple days. Work was great and price was fair. Would totally use again.

The guys at 1918 were great. I needed to get some wooden stairs repaired to get a violation removed on my home, and they were at my house for an estimate within a couple days of speaking with them on Thumbtack. They gave me a very reasonable price for the repair, and we went ahead and got it done. Repair took half a day. I have already recommended them twice to people for outdoor wood related projects….Read more
Great job on my privacy fence, extremely fast installation. Helped me to understand options, worked with me on getting the best bang for my buck. Would hire again.
The guys were great. They responded to my inquiries fast and courteous. They finished the work in one day leaving the area neat and clean. I would hire them for future projects and recommend them to others.

We appreciated their work ethic, communication, cleanliness and friendly attitudes. The guys did a great job trimming 3 trees and worked around some power wires. They cleaned up our yard and hauled everything away.
